eBird is among the world’s largest biodiversity-related science projects, with more than 100 million bird sightings contributed annually by eBirders around the world and an average participation growth rate of approximately 20% year over year
Virginia Bird Atlas
Virginia’s Second Breeding Bird Atlas is one of the largest avian survey project in Virginia, both in terms of geographic coverage (the entire Commonwealth) and the number of species surveyed to date. Conducted from 2016 to 2020, the project gathered data on the distribution and abundance of more than 200 bird species to support informed natural resource management and conservation planning in Virginia.
